The Walking Dead Season 3 Needs Clementine as the Main Character

Telltale’s The Walking Dead Season 3 needs Clementine as the main character. The Walking Dead is arguably Telltale’s largest property, with Season One receiving a number of accolades and Game of the Year awards. Robert Kirkman recently revealed that Clementine will appear in Season 3 of Telltale’s The Walking Dead, but in what capacity? He wouldn’t reveal any details, but if she is to be an integral part of Season 3, it needs Clementine as the main character. The whole series is based on the character, with Season One preparing her for survival, and Season 2 seeing her struggle as she wrestles with some difficult decisions as she continues to survive with a new group.

Clementine is an amazing character. Season One is all about Lee preparing Clementine for survival and Season 2 is all about Clementine trying to find herself in this screwed up apocalyptic world filled with walkers. With that said, Season 3 needs Clementine as the main character. We need to see where she is, how she’s grown, what she’s up to. There are so many questions that are left unanswered in Season 2 and the only way to adequately answer them is to have Clementine as the main character in Season 3. The ending of The Walking Dead Season 2 — A Telltale Game Series is ambiguous with several different endings and different characters meeting their demise or surviving, so it will be difficult to incorporate that into a new game and have multiple versions of different scenes with different characters. Clementine is the constant though, and is the reason why The Walking Dead Season 3 needs Clementine as the main character.

We’ll be checking in on Clementine again, so we’ll be seeing her, seeing where she’s at and what’s going on with her, which is going to be great.

Now that we’ve established the need for Clementine as the main character in The Walking Dead Season 3, who will return from previous seasons? We left off with either Kenny or Jane dead, or both, with Clementine left by herself with AJ. It is possible that Kenny and Jane make no appearance in The Walking Dead Season 3, but that would be wholly unsatisfying, especially considering Kenny is a character that has encompassed the entire series up to this point. There has to be some ultimate resolution to his story if you chose to let him live. Jane and Kenny, if they survived, will probably make brief appearances, possibly in Wellington, but beyond that, there’s not much the developers can do to incorporate them into the story of Season 3. Mike and Bonnie though, that’s another story. They betrayed the group, but they are still out there somewhere. So is Lily from Season 1, who murdered Carly/Doug, and don’t forget about Christa. While many think she is dead, she’s a survivor, and Season 3 may include the reunion of Clementine and Christa at long last.

Kirkman also said that The Walking Dead Season 3 will feature more tie-ins from the comics, as it is catching up to the timeframe the comics are currently in. There is no better way to do this than with Clementine as the main character in The Walking Dead Season 3. What if Wellington is in Virginia? What if she witnesses, from the shadows, Glenn’s gruesome death? This is solely my opinion, but Telltale’s The Walking Dead universe is superior to both the TV series and the comic books, and to shy away from Clementine as the main character would be suicide from a branding standpoint. To say that she will be a character in the next game but then not have her be playable would be suicide for the franchise. Telltale’s branding and marketing campaign for Season 2 was brilliant on Twitter with the hashtag #IamClementine. Well, I want to be Clementine again.

Clementine is the most enticing character in Telltale’s The Walking Dead. She’s growing up in this zombie apocalypse, becoming a teenager, trying to find her way in this incredibly screwed up world, and now has a baby to take care of. She is the series’ constant. Season 3 needs Clementine as the main character or it will be a disaster, as this is both the focal point of the entire franchise and it’s what fans want. #WeWantClementine. There, I’m creating it. Let’s hope Telltale hears the message.
