It was a five year journey in the making, but, Terry Garrett was finally able to overcome his disability and complete one of the most beloved and treacherous games of all time, Ocarina of Time. He started his play though of the classic title on May 8, 2011, and didn’t complete it until almost five years later. This accompanied the launch of a YouTube series which showed off the blind gamer’s gaming skill.
Being blind, Garrett used in-game sounds to help him navigate the world of Hyrule, although he was not without some help. Aids assisted him in discerning whether sounds were coming from the right or left sides, which was instrumental in the gamer’s ability to traverse the game. Terry used save states to assist in the trial and error process.
After almost five years later, Terry Garrett completed his journey and overcame his disability, completing the greatest game of all time. If this isn’t an inspirational story, what is?
