Nintendo refuses to comment on the Zelda television series being developed by Netflix

In light of reports that Netflix is currently developing a live-action Legend of Zelda television series with Nintendo by the Wall Street Journal, many have been eager to hear the video game monolith’s response to the rumor. What did they have to say? Absolutely nothing. Well, they did have something to say, but their response neither confirmed nor denied the existence of the project. What Nintendo did say was, “We will not comment on the rumors or the speculation.”

Some may take the categorical refusal to even deny the project by both Netflix and Nintendo as a way of saying that there’s some fire to this story, which may not be so far from the truth. This fall, Netflix is set to launch in Japan, perhaps giving just a little bit more credence to the initial report. As the series would also be accessible to Japanese TV watchers, it seems that Netflix is steadily expanding their market in a way which could make this project a possibility.

It may not happen today or tomorrow, or even in the next year, but The Legend of Zelda may be coming to a TV screen near you in the not too distant future.
