Majora’s Mask is finally coming to the Nintendo 3DS, and fans couldn’t me more thrilled about it, evidenced by how quickly the Majora’s Mask 3D Collector’s Edition sold out. Fans have been crying out for a remake of the game ever since Ocarina of Time came out for the 3DS in 2011, spearheading a campaign called “Operation Moonfall” to garner support for an eventual remake. Now that a new dawn is has finally come, along with Majora’s Mask 3D, this is the perfect opportunity to celebrate this occasion with a special Majora’s Mask edition of Fanart Friday!
Majora’s Mask is adored as being one of the darkest, most psychological, and heartfelt Zelda games in the entire franchise. In a world that is doomed to destruction in three days time, Link experiences a vast range of emotions while viewing how the inhabitants of Termina come to grips with their impending doom.
The source of this tragedy is none other than the Skull Kid, who has been possessed by the Majora’s Mask, a dark entity imbued with evil power. DeviantArt member KirstyCarter portrays Skull Kid and the Majora’s Mask perfectly in her piece “Majora’s Mask“. Giving off an eerily creepy vibe that matches the tone the game gives off, the Skull Kid’s face is shrouded in darkness with the Majora’s Mask front and center, alluding to the fact that the Skull Kid has been completely taken over by this evil relic.
With Majora’s Mask 3D coming out spring of this year, the hype for the game has never been greater, with a new collector’s edition announced for North America which will include a Skull Kid figurine. That is why today my choice for Fanart Friday is “Majora’s Mask”, aptly named, by KirstyCarter.
